The Queen of the Skies

The Light Source II

Below is a brief description of the disassembly of the fixture to retrieve the socket assembly, igniter and relays to be installed in the Airway Light. The bracket pre-fab and installation will be on the Project III page

Disassembly

To get the socket assembly out of the fixture took about an hour and the removal of about 60 nuts and bolts                                             Bulb (Globe) has been removed

Disconnecting wiring leads

Four more small bolts and the adjustable socket assembly was free of the housing

Removing the remainder of the bolts so the barrel assembly can be removed from the igniter housing

Finally the igniter, relays and switches are exposed. An occasional adult beverage helped the whole process, no one said it couldn't be FUN.....!

These are the parts that we need to install in the Airway Light, converting it to an HMI (Hygerium Metallic Iodide) light source, in lieu of the old carbon arc
